Trade Marks Act provides for local trademark applications with registration dating from registration of trademark. Registration of U.K. Trade Marks Act provides for filing of applications to extend rights under a U.K. trademark registration to Montserrat with effect from date of registration in U.K., but a suit in Montserrat for infringement of a U.K. registered trademark can only complain of infringement occurring after the date of registration in Montserrat.  

Service marks are registrable in Montserrat only via an application to extend a U.K. registered mark, as above. No local use or intent to use is necessary. International (Paris Convention) priority is not available. Registration term on local applications is 14 years and is renewable for like periods; term of trademarks registered as U.K. extensions is coterminous with U.K. registration. 

Authorization of Agent form requires two witnesses and no notarization or legalization.
